Armada Hotel Manila Review - Avoid This Property

I recently had to leave after the first night due to a series of unacceptable issues at Armada Hotel Manila, located at 2108 Marcelo H. del Pilar, Malate, Manila, 1004 Metro Manila, Philippines. This was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had, especially for a property claiming to be four stars.

Major Issues Encountered:

Non-functional Wifi: The wifi didn’t work at all on my floor. As a business traveler, reliable internet is critical. After reporting the issue, an engineer came to check and admitted he couldn’t fix it. I was moved to another room where the connection was slightly better, but still too weak for video calls or online meetings. This was not a minor issue—it’s a basic expectation for any modern hotel.
Constant Noise: The room had relentless clicking sounds from relay systems that made sleeping nearly impossible.
Hygiene and Maintenance Problems:
- Filthy windows that seemed untouched for decades.
- A musty, unpleasant smell throughout the room.
- Black mold in the bathroom and insects in the toilet and shower areas.

Refund Request Denied:

I requested a refund for the unused nights, as the hotel failed to meet basic standards. Initially, the hotel manager verbally assured me that they would not object to a refund. However, when Agoda followed up on my behalf, the hotel reversed their position and refused to cooperate after taking a full week to consider the request. This lack of accountability and professionalism further solidified my negative impression of this property.

Verdict:

The Armada Hotel Manila is in desperate need of upgrades and better management. Its failure to provide basic amenities like clean rooms and working wifi makes it unworthy of its star rating. I strongly advise future travelers to avoid this property until significant improvements are made.
